A considered, step by step process
Treatment moves through a series of carefully planned stages. Each one is designed to protect your comfort, your healing and your long-term result. No two implant journeys are exactly the same — your clinical team will explain the timing that applies to your case.
- 01Where your journey begins
Your free clinical assessment
Your first appointment is free and there is no obligation to proceed. You will spend up to 90 minutes with our team, including a clinician experienced in full-mouth dental implant treatment. It includes 3D CBCT imaging, intraoral scans and clinical photographs, allowing us to carefully assess your oral health, bone and jaw anatomy. Your clinician explains the findings in clear language, and your Treatment Coordinator guides you through the next steps — without pressure.
- 02Calm, supported and in safe hands
The day of surgery
Feeling anxious before surgery is completely natural, so every part of the day is planned around your safety, comfort and reassurance. You will be welcomed into a private treatment suite, where conscious IV sedation is provided by our experienced anaesthesia team — many patients remember very little of the procedure. Surgery typically takes between two and three hours. While you rest, our on-site laboratory prepares your fixed temporary PMMA teeth, and you return home the same day with your temporary teeth in place, detailed aftercare instructions and a direct emergency contact number.
- 03The day after surgery
A reassuring call from our team
A member of our clinical team contacts you the day after surgery to check how you are feeling. We discuss your comfort, swelling, medication, eating and cleaning, and make sure your recovery is progressing as expected. You will also have a direct contact number should you need advice between scheduled reviews.
- 04Checking your healing
Your two-week review
Around two weeks after surgery, we check how your gums and surgical sites are healing and review your comfort, swelling, bite and temporary teeth. This appointment also focuses on helping you care for your implants with confidence — detailed hygiene guidance, how to clean safely around the gum line, and how to use your water flosser.
- 05Preparing for your final smile
Data capture
Once healing has progressed and swelling has settled, we capture the precise information needed to design your final smile: detailed intraoral scans, photogrammetry records and clinical photographs. Photogrammetry accurately records the position of your implants, helping our laboratory team create trial teeth with a precise fit. This appointment typically lasts around 60 to 75 minutes.
- 06Seeing and feeling your new smile
Your trial teeth
Your PMMA trial teeth provide a carefully designed preview of your final smile. You will wear them for a couple of weeks — speaking, eating and smiling with the planned design in everyday life — so you can experience how your planned smile looks and feels before anything final is made.
- 07Your feedback matters
Trial review and final design
At your trial review we discuss how your teeth look and feel — shape, position, comfort, speech and bite — and you choose your final tooth shade from 19 options. Your trial teeth can be refined as many times as clinically necessary, without rushing the process. Only when you and your clinical team are satisfied will our in-house laboratory begin crafting your final Prettau Zirconia bridge.
- 08The final reveal
Your final fit
Your final Prettau Zirconia teeth are securely fitted and your bite is carefully checked. We take clinical photographs and a baseline X-ray for your long-term monitoring. This is a significant milestone, and we take time to recognise it with you. You leave with your final smile, clear guidance on caring for your new teeth — and the continued support of the team who has been beside you throughout.

Questions patients ask about the journey
Yes. You will leave the clinic with a fixed set of temporary PMMA teeth, full aftercare instructions, a direct emergency contact number, and arranged support for your journey home. Some patients may require a longer healing period before fixed teeth are fitted — this decision is based on implant stability, bone quality and your individual assessment.
You will receive conscious IV sedation as part of your treatment plan, delivered by an experienced anaesthesia team, in a private patient suite. It helps you feel deeply relaxed, and many patients remember very little of the procedure. You will need a responsible adult to accompany you home and remain with you.
Your mouth changes during healing. Swelling settles and your gums adjust over time. Moving carefully through each stage allows the team to design your final teeth around a healed, stable foundation — which is why data capture and a trial stage come before the final bridge is made.
Yes. Your feedback is central to the design process. At your trial review you and the team discuss comfort while chewing, bite balance, speech, tooth shape and proportions, smile appearance and lip support — and you choose your final shade from 19 options. Refinements are made before the final bridge is created. The final bridge is not rushed.
No two implant journeys are exactly the same. The journey moves through a clear set of stages — surgery and temporary fixed teeth, a two-week review, data capture, trial teeth, a trial review, and your final Zirconia fitting — and your clinical team will explain the timing that applies to your case. If you smoke, you will be advised to abstain for the duration of treatment, which can last up to nine months.
