Built on the work of the man who made implants possible

In the 1950s, Swedish researcher Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark placed titanium into bone as part of a study of blood flow. When he tried to remove it, the bone had formed a strong bond with the metal. He called the process osseointegration — and it became the scientific foundation of modern dental implant treatment.

What he believed

These principles remain the standards upheld by the Association of Brånemark Osseointegration Centres — of which New Life Teeth is the only member in the UK and Ireland.

Safe

Professor Brånemark insisted on robust research, clinical trials and long-term evidence before any new technique was adopted. Treatment should restore function and appearance while protecting the health and wellbeing of every patient.

Simple

Treatment should be as straightforward as each clinical situation allows. A clear and proven approach can be taught consistently, repeated accurately and relied upon. Unnecessary complexity offers no benefit to the patient.

Available

He wanted implant treatment to be accessible to everyone who could benefit from it, rather than reserved for a privileged few — the most ambitious of his three principles, and central to why the Association exists today.

New Life Teeth is one of only 20 Brånemark Osseointegration Centres worldwide. Why full-arch treatment demands a different implant system

Replacing a full jaw of teeth works differently from replacing one tooth — in several important ways.

Force is shared

Pressure in one area transfers through the bridge to the supporting implants. Implant number, position and bridge design all influence how force is distributed.

No natural cushioning

Implants have no periodontal ligament — they integrate directly with bone. Forces must be managed through planning, placement and bite design.

Leverage matters

A full-jaw bridge is exposed to leverage. The distance between implants, and the cantilever beyond the final implant, affect the forces at work.

Bone may be limited

Bone reduces after tooth loss, and sinuses and anatomy can limit conventional upper-jaw placement — which is where advanced implant designs earn their place.

Southern Implants

An implant system chosen for anatomy, not marketing

We use titanium implants from Southern Implants — a range designed around different anatomical challenges: preserving thin facial bone at the front of the mouth, wider implants for molar sockets after extraction, built-in angle correction where implant and tooth positions do not naturally align, and zygomatic options for severely reduced upper-jaw bone.

And an honest note, in the words of our own clinical article: what protects your implants is not the brand name. It is accurate diagnosis, careful planning, precise placement, a well-designed bite — and your daily cleaning and professional maintenance afterwards.
